This architecture is defined by performance of claddings. In recent years the CALL system on computers has been increasingly used in language education. In terms of classroom it is recognized as a computer classroom with audio-visual system. The following issues are basically required for cladding of buildings.
1) Considering the reflection on the screen, it should make homogenized lighting with reflectively small luminance contrast.
2) When screening images, it should be able to control the lighting including blackouts.
3) It should perform a sufficient radiation rather insulating heat.
In classroom for computer use where internal heat generation is large, air conditioners will be used throughout the year。In this type of facility, temperature of the outside is likely to be lower than the inside for a longer period. Therefore, air conditioning load should be effectively small with moderate radiation rather than the raising insulation performance.
Main classrooms are arranged on the north and south side. Classroom on the south are double-skinned by polycarbonate and waved-glass, and a blind for a blackout condition is installed inside the double-skin. The solar radiation heat hitting this blind is excluded in the summer time, while it is included in the winter time. By doing so, it is possible to control heart load, and acquire soft and homogenized lighting through the whole wall structure. This is a simple and fully effective attempt for the façade engineering.
Full-scale glass blocks are used on the outer wall of north-side classrooms. As a result, again, the lighting with relatively small luminance is realized while ensuring moderate insulation (radiation of heat) performance.
